The Belgrade Zoo was established in 1936. It was founded by the then mayor, an industrialist, Mr. Vlada Ilić (I). It was officially opened on St. Peter's Day - July 12.

Palić Zoo is located in the center of the village of the same name, 6 km from Subotica and 5 km from the E75 motorway connecting Budapest and Belgrade. It was founded in 1950 and today covers an area of ​​10 hectares. The basic functions of the Zoo are: zoological, botanical, educational and nature protection. The garden park harmoniously blends animal aviaries and spaces for rest and entertainment. Over 270 species of trees and shrubs grow in the park.i of which are many rare and exotic species, such as Lebanese cedar and giant, redwood or larch. Centuries-old oaks stand out from the domestic species.
