One of 25 wonders of the world

Founded in 1992 to unlock the benefits of geothermal seawater, Blue Lagoon Iceland has evolved into a company that is focused on transformative spa experiences, research and development, skin care, sustainability, culinary enjoyment, and the convergence of hospitality and wellness.

Located in the heart of an 800-year-old lava plain on the Reykjanes Peninsula, the company, in all its manifestations, seeks to unify the manmade and the natural. Originally based on a single entity—the Blue Lagoon—the company now operates a 35-room hotel, a restaurant, a thriving R&D center, and a renowned line of skin care. With societal uplift as one of its core mandates, all of Blue Lagoon Iceland's concerns are powered by sustainable energy.

In 2018, the company completed a remarkable expansion, launching a bus transfer service called Destination Blue Lagoon and opening the Retreat at Blue Lagoon Iceland—a complex encircled by geothermal seawater and encompassing a 62-room luxury hotel, a subterranean spa, a mineral-rich lagoon, and a 60-seat restaurant with stunning views of the moss-covered volcanic landscape.

Geothermal seawater—an astonishing resource born 2000 meters within the earth where seawater and freshwater converge in a realm of searing heat and immense pressure—will always be the heart and soul of Blue Lagoon. But the harmonic interplay of man and nature is the hallmark of the company’s evolution, guiding it from its humble beginnings into new dimensions of warmth, wellbeing, and wonder.

Lava Restaurant : Built into a lava wall on the west bank of the Blue Lagoon, the restaurant is a breathtaking location for experiencing the fresh, local, seasonal pleasures of Icelandic cuisine.

Moss Restaurant : With menus that move effortlessly from the mountains to the rivers to the seas, each dish opens the door to the diverse delights of Iceland’s endless bounty of nourishment.
