The Texas Animal Health Commission (TAHC) was founded in 1893 with a mission to address the Texas fever tick problem. Today, the TAHC works to protect the health of all Texas livestock, including: cattle, swine, poultry, sheep, goats, equine family animals, exotic livestock. The TAHC also works to keep pests from reoccurring as major livestock health hazards. Ultimately, the TAHC’s mission and role is the assurance of marketability and mobility of Texas livestock.

Texas School for the Blind and Visually Impaired (TSBVI) serves as a special public school in which students, ages 6 through 21, who are blind, deaf-blind, or visually impaired, including those with additional disabilities, are eligible for consideration for services on the TSBVI campus. It is also a statewide resource to parents of these children and the professionals who serve them, from birth through transition from school.

The Texas Bond Review Board, created in 1987, is composed of the Governor, Lieutenant Governor, Speaker of the House of Representatives, and Comptroller of Public Accounts. The agency’s statutory authority is found in Chapter 1231 and Chapter 1372 of the Texas Government Code. The agency’s mission is to ensure that debt financing is used prudently to meet Texas’ infrastructure needs and other public purposes, to support and enhance the debt issuance and debt management functions of state and local entities, and to administer the state’s private activity bond allocation.

The Brazos River Authority was created by the Texas Legislature in 1929 and was the first State agency in the United States created specifically for the purpose of developing and managing the water resources of an entire river basin. Today, the Authority’s staff of 250 develop and distribute water supplies, provide water and wastewater treatment, monitor water quality, and pursue water conservation through public education programs.
