Niagara Falls is a world-famous collection of three waterfalls located on the border between Ontario, Canada, and New York, USA. The trio consists of Horseshoe Falls, American Falls, and Bridal Veil Falls. Horseshoe Falls, the largest and most powerful of the three, spans the international border and is often referred to as the Canadian Falls.
The waterfalls are formed by the Niagara River, which carries water from Lake Erie to Lake Ontario. Together, they create one of the highest-flowing waterfall systems in North America, with millions of cubic feet of water cascading over the edge every minute during peak flow.
Bridal Veil Falls is separated from Horseshoe Falls by Goat Island and from American Falls by Luna Island, both located on the U.S. side.
