Machu Picchu is one of the most iconic and breathtaking tourist attractions in the world, located high in the Andes Mountains of Peru. Often referred to as the "Lost City of the Incas," this ancient citadel was built in the 15th century by the Inca emperor Pachacuti and is renowned for its sophisticated dry-stone construction, mysterious history, and stunning natural surroundings.

Perched at an altitude of about 2,430 meters (7,970 feet), Machu Picchu offers panoramic views of lush green valleys and steep mountain peaks. The site includes more than 150 buildings ranging from temples and sanctuaries to houses and agricultural terraces, all marvelously preserved despite centuries of exposure.

Visitors are captivated by the grandeur of the Temple of the Sun, the precision of the Intihuatana stone (a ritual sundial), and the serene beauty of the Sacred Plaza. Whether accessed by the scenic train ride from Cusco or via the adventurous Inca Trail hike, Machu Picchu remains a bucket-list destination, celebrated not only for its historical significance but also for its spiritual and cultural atmosphere.

Designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1983 and one of the New Seven Wonders of the World, Machu Picchu is a must-visit for history lovers, nature enthusiasts, and anyone in search of awe-inspiring beauty.
