The journey to our startup
We, the Abdullah friends, laid the foundation of Apna Bakery in the 1960s in Supa, Maharashtra. Authentic Malabari cuisines were not the only thing that drew the natives here but freshly baked cookies, buns and cupcakes were the major enticers. These, back then in the 1960s, were considered to be a part of the elite high tea snacks and relatively unknown to the villagers.
The wonderful response that we received, gave us the idea to add a bakery line. What started off as a bakery line at one point, has now turned into a full-grown bakery. Located about 100kms outside Pune, at a pit stop frequented by travelers crossing Pune, Apna Bakery has become a famous landmark today.
What led to this startup!
It is religiously believed that baking is cathartic! It is one of the most wonderful ways to spread smiles and delight. The locals in and around Supa were not even aware of the delicious bakery goods such as biscuits, buns, and doughnuts. This led to the idea of introducing these sumptuous delights and spreading joy amongst the villagers.
Family Business
The two friends - K. K. Abdullah and E. K. Abdullah, who originally belong to Thalasseri in Kerala started this bakery. Kerala is not just famous for its cuisines but people also practice the art of baking regularly at homes. With passing time, the bakery in Pune Nagar Highway has expanded its bakery line into a full-fledged - Apna Bakery. The Malabari tradition started by Abdullah continues with their immediate and extended family as well as their friends. A trip across Pune is incomplete without buying baked goods from Apna Bakery at Supa.
The Purchase Status
The bakery has started to transform the lives of local villagers of Supa and creating jobs directly or indirectly to over 100+ via 6 bakery outlets by locals. Apna Bakery has always provided good business and employment to the local villagers. Starting with a mere 700 sq. ft. area, the bakery has continued to expand and now proudly stands at 9000 sq.ft., with the second generation of the Abdullahs running the Apna Bakery, it won’t be an understatement that they are continuing to make the lives of the citizens tastier every day!

The love and affection showered on us by the residents of in and around Supa has made our venture a big success. Thanks to them, we are now a prominent feature near Pune.
