Leveraging the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan's strategic geographic location and thriving touristic potential, complemented by a growing network of direct flights to numerous destinations worldwide, Queen Alia International Airport (QAIA) has steadily emerged as a premier regional center for leisure, business and medical travel.
As the Kingdom's prime gateway to the world and a proud national landmark, QAIA embodies the longstanding values of hospitality and warmth Jordanians have become renowned for, instilling in local, regional and international passengers a genuine notion of safety, familiarity and belonging and giving them a sense of home away from home from the moment they enter the premises. With the ease of its navigation, the premium standards of its services and the authenticity of its welcome, QAIA presents passengers - both inbound and outbound - with a unique travel experience at all touchpoints, whilst connecting them with major cities across the globe. As testament to its steadfast commitment excellence, QAIA was granted the title of ‘Best Airport by Size and Region: Middle East’ for airports serving five to 15 million passengers - for the second consecutive year and the third time in its history - as per the Airports Council International (ACI) 2019 Airport Service Quality (ASQ) Survey. Meanwhile, QAIA has also been dedicated to conserving the environment, becoming the first carbon-neutral airport in the region by achieving the highest level of the Airport Carbon Accreditation Program - Level 3+ ‘Neutrality’ - which has been renewed until 2022.
To usher this new era for QAIA, Airport International Group - a Jordanian consortium of local and international investors with proven experience in airport rehabilitation, enhancement, operation and management - was awarded a 25-year Build-Operate-Transfer (BOT) concession agreement by the Government of Jordan in 2007.
Six years later, in March 2013, the QAIA New Terminal - which is located 35 kilometers from the heart of the capital Amman - was inaugurated under the Royal Patronage of His Majesty King Abdullah II ibn Al Hussein, raising annual passenger capacity from the initial 3.5 million to 9 million passengers annually. Nearly three years after, in September 2016, the second phase of the QAIA New Terminal project was launched under the patronage of His Royal Highness Crown Prince Al Hussein bin Abdullah II, further bolstering annual passenger capacity to up to 12 million passengers annually.
