One of the state's most popular attractions, the Birmingham Zoo, is an ever-evolving adventure. Guests come from around the Southeast to see animals such as red pandas, lions, giraffes, orangutans, rhinos, bears, elephants, sea lions, zebras, a jaguar, a hippo and many more. From Trails of Africa to the Children's Zoo and everything in-between, the Birmingham Zoo features animals from all over the world, with signage highlighting the Zoo's amazing animal care, conservation initiatives, and Species Survival Plans. With approximately 700 animals of 200 species and endangered species from six continents, the Birmingham Zoo's 122-acre site is the perfect place to visit any time of the year.
The Birmingham Zoo is a non-profit open daily from 9am to 5pm, except during special, seasonal and extended hours. The Birmingham Zoo is located at 2630 Cahaba Road in Birmingham, Alabama. Regular admission is $17 for adults and $14 for senior citizens, military, college students and $12 for children ages 2-12 (all prices listed are not including tax). Birmingham Zoo Members and children under two-years-old receive free admission. The Birmingham Zoo is the only Association of Zoos and Aquariums (AZA) accredited zoo in the state of Alabama and is a designated sensory inclusive facility.
